From 1950 to 1956 he was Archdeacon of Down and from then until 1969 Dean of St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast.〔(Cathedral web-site )〕 Peacocke was elected Bishop of Derry and Raphoe on 16 October 1969 and consecrated 6 January 1970.
