Cuthbert Irvine Peacocke〔(Photoshelter )〕 TD (26 April 1903 – 6 April 1994) was the 8th Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, retiring in 1975.〔“Handbook of British Chronology” By Fryde, E. B;. Peacocke was born at St Mary’s Rectory, Dublin.〔(Cricketarchive )〕 He was educated at Saint Columba's College, Dublin and Trinity College, Dublin“Who was Who” 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 and ordained in 1927〔Crockford's Clerical Directory1940-41 Oxford, OUP, 1941.〕 His first post was a curacy at Seapatrick.〔(Church History )〕 He was then Head of the Southern Mission before holding incumbencies at Derriaghy and Dundela. From 1950 to 1956 he was Archdeacon of Down and from then until 1969 Dean of St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast.〔(Cathedral web-site )〕
Peacocke was elected Bishop of Derry and Raphoe on 16 October 1969 and consecrated 6 January 1970. He resigned 31 March 1975.
